AGCO plans Digit humanoid pilot at Hesston for 2027

AGCO and Agility Robotics signed a commercial agreement for a Kansas factory pilot expected to begin in 2027, with parts and tote handling among the initial tasks.

A manufacturing pilot in Kansas

AGCO and Agility Robotics have signed a commercial agreement to explore humanoid automation at AGCO's production facility in Hesston, Kansas. Their announcement, dated 2026-10-20, says the U.S. pilot is expected to begin in 2027.

The robot named for the project is Digit. The release does not identify a generation for the pilot. Agility's current Digit has a separate profile on RoboHub; that link does not establish which version AGCO will use.

Parts and totes are the initial focus

The announced initial tasks include sorting and stacking parts and placing totes for storage. AGCO and Agility describe the project as a way to address repetitive and physically demanding work while allowing employees to focus on tasks that require their skills.

These are the companies' intended benefits for the pilot. The announcement reports a planned project, without measured outcomes from the Hesston pilot. It also names Toyota, GXO and Schaeffler as other companies deploying Agility's humanoid robots.
