Chimelong puts 300+ AGIBOT robots to work at its new Hengqin theme park
Chimelong Spaceship Park in Zhuhai opened on 24 September with more than 300 AGIBOT robots in seven guest-facing roles, and the group plans to reach 1,000 robots there by year-end.
On 24 September 2026, Chimelong Group opened the Hengqin Chimelong Spaceship Park (横琴长隆飞船乐园) in Zhuhai, Guangdong, with more than 300 robots from AGIBOT (智元) working in the park from day one, according to China News Service.
What the robots do
The deployment covers seven scenarios:
- live entertainment and shows
- science education
- guided tours and shopping guidance
- retail
- companionship for visitors
- hotel services
- sports and games
The park has set up more than 100 interaction points. Chinese coverage describes robots performing martial arts and tai chi, playing table tennis and rock-paper-scissors with guests, writing calligraphy, serving tea and explaining marine life. Each robot can be customised in five dimensions (voice, facial expression, persona, movement and costume) to match Chimelong's own characters.
300 today, 1,000 by year-end
Chimelong says the number of robots at the Hengqin park will reach 1,000 within the year. The same day, the two companies opened a joint research institute for embodied AI in tourism (长隆—智元文旅行业具身智能研究院), which will use Chimelong's busy, open-all-day parks as real-world test ground.
"Robots are entering a new phase of real-world deployment," AGIBOT founder, chairman and CEO Deng Taihua told Blooloop.
Why it matters for robot buyers
Most humanoid and service-robot news is still about pilots. One operator committing to hundreds of units in public-facing roles is a different kind of evidence: it tests charging, uptime, crowd safety and staff supervision at a scale few buyers can see first-hand. Chinese coverage presents the robots as "new employees" working alongside park staff rather than replacing them; how those roles evolve is the part worth watching.
